New Follow Me v2.2
Tuesday, July 31, 2012
I've released a new version of my Follow Me HUD. It's free to all current owners.
For those who haven't seen it, Follow Me lets you teleport around the grid with your friends. Simply have everyone wear the HUD, and when one person teleports, the others will teleport with them. You don't have to send everyone a TP, it's all automatic.
It used to work by sending everyone a TP link which they could click in their chat history. It still does that, but now you can enable Auto Teleport mode, which uses the just-released TeleportAgent capability to teleport you automatically! No clicks or map popups needed.
There are a couple of caveats. It doesn't yet work with all third-party viewers. And some regions are are different "channels" (eg, Magnum) which don't yet have a working copy of the llTeleportAgent command. But I'm sure all the third-party viewers will soon release updates to take advantage of this capability, and the sims will soon have current software.
So give it a try, and let me know if you can think of any improvements.
New En Garde v1.16
Saturday, July 21, 2012
I've released version 1.16 of En Garde. This is mainly a bug-fix release. All owners are invited to upgrade free of charge.
You can upgrade by deleting your current game, and delivering a new updated copy to yourself, which you can then rez. To get a new copy, you can either
- Use your En Garde Remote. Wear the Remote and say "/8 deliver game"
- Visit my in-world store, and touch the En Garde vendor
- Visit the Customer section of the Procyon Games website, find your En Garde license, and click the Redeliver link
This game comes with a new version of the game HUD. Your players must use the new HUD when playing on the new game (it won't let you play with an old HUD). Everyone can get a copy of the new HUD by clicking on the game and then the Get HUD button.
Release Notes:
- Fixed a bug that allowed the HUD and main game to get out of sync, resulting in "Invalid card played" errors.
- Fixed a bug that would not allow payment to be enabled for some Commercial licenses
- The game no longer says "times's up" when the deck runs out at the end of a point.
- The HUD no longer offers a player the option to Parry an Advance-Lunge, if the player doesn't have any of the appropriate cards
- When doing a Last Second Attack, the appropriate cards are hilited in orange.
- The game gives players a link to click in chat, to see their ranking on the Procyon website
Can't Stop v1.05
Sunday, April 11, 2010
I've released version 1.05 of Can't Stop. This is a free upgrade to all registered owners. You can use your remote to deliver a copy of the new version to yourself ("/8 deliver game"), but this update also includes a new scoreboard and team signup prim, so I recommend you visit my shop and touch the Can't Stop vendor there to get a complete package.
- NEW Mod-ok scoreboard. You can resize and retexture it.
- NEW Team signup prim. Rez this near your game, and players can touch it to join your team. Team rankings are shown on the Procyon Games website.
- NEW The Start, Settings, Help buttons hilite briefly when players sit down to play.
- FIXED A security issue was fixed.
- FIXED The game adjusts its position when you rez it. For some reason it liked to rez off the ground. It now moves down a smidge after it rezzes, which should set it flush with the ground.
- FIXED It was really easy for the dice to get lost, since they're a separate piece. The game now rezzes the dice each time you play, and deletes them when the game is done. So if you move or take your table you don't have to worry about picking up the invisible dice any more.
- FIXED To help players who have trouble distinguishing the different colors of the playing pieces, little symbols have been added (squares, circles, etc)
- FIXED Often if you tried to rotate or adjust the game after you rezzed it, it would get confused and the board wouldn't line up properly. It now should adjust itself better, so you can rotate your game after you rez it if you want.
- NEW You can enable an optional game rule (under "Settings"), called "No stacks" or "Can't Stop Can't Stop." When the rule is in play, players are not allowed to end their turn if any of their pieces are on top of someone else's. If you do move temporarily on top of someone, you must continue to roll until you move off (or zonk). This changes the game a bit, and some players prefer this rule.
Can't Stop Player History
Wednesday, January 6, 2010
I've added player histories for Can't Stop to the web site.
Complete Local Rankings
Sunday, January 3, 2010
Game owners can now see a complete list of the local rankings for their games on the Procyon web site. You have to have your avatar registered with the site like the other owner-access-only areas.
New En Garde v1.14

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Edit your Team Roster
Monday, November 23, 2009
Now that you can see everyone on your team, some people are surprised by some of the names on the lists. It's easy to join a team but there's no way to leave a team (besides joining another team —an avatar can only be on one team at a time). So there's probably some people on your team who haven't been online in months, or have left Second Life altogether.
New Follow Me v2.1
Saturday, November 21, 2009
Thanks to Kas Kwietz who found a long-standing bug in Follow Me which would sometimes cause your followers to teleport in at a slightly lower elevation. This wasn't a problem if you were teleporting at ground level but if you teleported in to the upper floor of a building your follower could miss the floor and fall to the level below.

New Can't Stop version 1.04
Friday, February 27, 2009
I've released Can't Stop v1.04 which has several bug fixes and a few new features.
- NEW Reset functionality
- Only the owner of the game can Reset it
- Hold down for a second (won't reset with just a click)
- Stronger reset, can fix broken scripts
- Aborts game in progress and ejects players
- FIXED Sometimes players who had just played a game couldn't pay into the pot in the next game (Commercial Edition only)
- NEW More robust player re-join:
- A player can leave the game and return later
- If the current player leaves, his turn ends
- Missing players' turns are skipped
- NEW Chat levels. In the Settings menu, you can change the chat volume from Normal, Whisper, and Silent
- FIXED A bug where the pot total could carry over from one game to the next has been fixed.
- NEW The game will now refuse to set up if you don't grant it Link Permissions
- FIXED Some cases where the game would not reset properly have been fixed
- FIXED The game logo now always displays when the game was idle.
New Frootcake v1.15
Saturday, January 10, 2009
Have you noticed how vicious those tinies can be?
You know who I'm talking about. They're those little tiny avatars, no more than a couple feet tall. Oh sure, they look cute and all, but take it from me, you don't ever want to get on their bad side!
The Tinies have gotten into Frootcake, but there's a small (heh) problem. When they try to sit at the game, it positions them below the table. This is a common problem for tinies. Most sit animations are made for regular-sized avatars, and so when tinies try to use chairs and such it doesn't work so well for them.
This didn't interfere with them playing the game, mind you. It just looked a little weird.
So I got some requests that I add a feature to Frootcake to accomodate the tinies. And I added it to my to-do list, planning to get to it eventually.
Then I got some more requests, and more, and more. Those tinies really pile it on! And they never give up.
Faced with their unrelenting attacks, I was forced to cencede. So I've released a new version of Frootcake. When you sit down, you can toggle "tiny mode" on and off by hitting the up arrow key. If you're a Tiny, then tiny mode will seat you properly. If you're not a tiny, it will scrunch you up and make you look weird. Toggle it off.
I've also recompiled all the scripts into Mono for greater speed.
Can't Stop v1.03 Update
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
I've released version 1.03 of Can't Stop. It's free to all registered owners. Here are the release notes:
- FIXED If the current player leaves the game for any reason, the game will skip to the next player (so the game doesn't hang).
- NEW There is a Help Card included in the box, which has some simplified rules to get new players started. You won't get the help card if you upgrade your game. If you want the new card you'll have to get a whole new box, by touching the Can't Stop vendor.
- NEW There is a new audio and visual indicator on your HUD when it's your turn.
- FIXED The yellow and orange playing pieces are easier to tell apart
- NEW All scripts have been recompiled into Mono
- FIXED The camera view when you sit down has been pulled back a bit
- NEW There is a Get HUD button directly on the table, so you don't have to go through the Help menu to get a new HUD
- FIXED The game would malfunction if you rotated it after rezzing.
- NEW The game tells you your world ranking when you sit down.
Frootcake v1.13 Update
Saturday, December 6, 2008

It's that time of year again... time for family gatherings, gifts -- and Frootcake! I've released version 1.13 of the game which fixes some bugs and adds a couple new features:
- [Commercial License Only] The payment system has been updated to work more like the other Procyon games. You can toggle Free Play mode off and on, independently of what you have your Min Bet set to. The game will rez in Free Play mode, and will not ask you for Debit Permission until you turn off Free Play. The option to toggle free play is in the menu that pops down when you touch the game.
- [Commercial License Only] When the game is in Free Play mode it is impossible to pay money into it.
- The HUD does not spam new players with the release notes when they wear it
- There is a new darker background on the HUD display to help you read the numbers there. (Players will have to get a new HUD from the game of course)
- I've made a new Help Texture which emphasizes the HUDs and combines the 3 old screens into one. You can rez the included prim, or apply the texture to any of your own items.
- Touching the jukebox doesn't pop down the menu any more.
- The cakes now glow to indicate when they will stack.
- The scoreboard has been redone to drastically reduce the number of prims (now 23 prims instead of 63)
En Garde v1.13 Update
Sunday, November 23, 2008
En Garde v1.13 is now available!
This version contains many fixes in many different parts of the game and support items. I recommend that you get a whole new box. Come to Procyon Games and touch the En Garde vendor there. It will give you a complete new setup. Derez your existing game and delete any En Garde items you have in your inventory, then rez your new copies.
New in this release:
- MONO. All scripts have been recompiled in the new Mono runtime. This should not change how anything works, and I have done some testing and it all seems ok. But it is a big change "under the hood", and if you notice any new bugs please report them.
The Mono recompilation should make everything faster, and it should eliminate the problem where the game and/or HUD would run out of memory (giving "Stack/ Heap collision error") - CARDS TEMPLATE. A texture is included in the box to help you make your own custom HUD display for the player cards.
- The status display in the HUD has a darker background for easier visibility
- To set your team name, you need to use your remote (the button has been moved off the game itself)
- The remote control properly handles upper-case commands
- Debit permission requests have changed. If you have a Commercial License, the game will now only ask you for Debit Permission when you take the game out of Free Play mode. You can turn Free Play on and off with a button on the game menu itself.
- The Team Signup script now uses the team name in the dialog (it asks, "Do you want to join Rifkin's Rapiers" instead of "Do you want to join Rifkin Habsburg's team")
- In certain rare circumstances, a round would continue even after the deck had run out of cards. This has been fixed.
New Take it Easy v2.14
Saturday, September 6, 2008
Take it Easy Multiplayer v2.14
A new version of Take it Easy (Multiplayer) is available.
This version fixes a bug that corrupted the display of some of the player names in some circumstances. It also adds in some logging information so I can track games, which is the first step to adding a player ranking system like the other Procyon Games.
Are you feeling Crazy?
Sunday, June 22, 2008
I've released a new version of the Deck of Cards, version 1.03.
Now included is the game "Crazy Eights." It's the game "Uno" was based off of. Everyone tries to get rid of their cards first by matching suits or ranks. It's fast and simple, and works for 2-5 players.
The upgrade is free to existing deck owners. You should have received a notice already (and it will tell you when you rez it). The deck doesn't use the same licensing system I use for my bigger games, so it's not as automatic. If you have any problems IM me and I can send it to you manually.
Updating Server Code
Saturday, June 7, 2008
I'm currently in the middle of a server upgrade, so you may see some glitches. I've had some reports of scoreboards going blank; if this happened to you you can force it to reload by clicking on it. The Follow Me HUDs are not working right now, I'm working on getting those back. If you have any other problems (anything saying "Server error, report to Rifkin") please let me know about it.
Danger Zone v1.07 Release
Thursday, May 15, 2008
I've released a new version 1.07 of Danger Zone. It fixes some long-standing bugs and adds new functionality to the scoreboard, bringing the high score system in line with the other Procyon games.
The boulders now work properly in skyboxes or elevated builds. Previously they would only bounce off the ground. Now they bounce off your head!
The platforms had a serious bug that spammed people if they rezzed a patform but never stood on it. Now the platform will time out and derez if nobody stands on it in 3 minutes.
If a player was brand new, they would be given an outdated HUD. Now it only gives HUDs when asked, and they are the latest version.
The remote control has been updated to use the new (HTTP) delivery method for all items.
The payment system has been revamped. If you have a Personal License, the game will never ask you for DEBIT Permission. If you have a commercial license, it will only ask you if it's not in Free Play mode.
If multiple people tried to rez platforms all at once, all but one would silently fail. The rez system is now more robust.
The scoreboard has been redone. Danger Zone now uses the same type of high score system that Frootcake and En Garde have. All players worldwide are ranked based on their overall play. Each game owner also has their own Local ranking which tracks plays on your game for the past two weeks. The new scoreboard is included free in all Danger Zone licenses.
Danger Zone owners can upgrade by visiting my main store in Malrif and touching the Danger Zone vendor there. While you're there, check out the new Danger Mountain!
Follow Me v1.8 (now mandatory)
Monday, May 5, 2008
I upgraded Follow Me to version 1.8 last week. Tomorrow I will be making the upgrade mandatory. If you are still using an older version of Follow Me, it will stop working.
One of the main reasons for the upgrade was to make the code more efficient on my server. The older versions tend to band much harder on my server, and it slows things down for all the other functions it has to perform, like keeping track of high scores.
Even if you don't upgrade before the cutoff, you can still get a new version by visiting Procyon Games and clicking the vendor there. If you've incorporated Follow Me into another item, you will need to replace the script there with the new version.
Checkers update
Tuesday, April 29, 2008
I've updated my Checkers set.
The old set had you move pieces by physically dragging them across the board. It was a nice idea, but dragging things in SL is tricky at best. This new version lets you click on a piece, and then click on where you want it to go. It works a lot better.
The Checkers Set is still just one prim when not in use (during a game it rezzes 32 pieces). It automatically cleans up when nobody is around.
